This is our site dedicated to local politics. All politics, all the time. The site is moderated by veteran Press Democrat reporter and editor Ted Appel. Read Ted’s welcome note here for more about the site.
This site is about politics and your discussions of those issues. It’s very simple to comment on stories. But unlike a lot of web message boards, we’re going to keep the conversation civil. No comments will be published unless they have been approved by Ted or by other staffers here. The only reason that a comment won’t be published if it is patently offensive in terms of name-calling, hate speech, vulgar language or otherwise inappropriate material. Other than that, agree with our posts, disagree with them, agree with each other, disagree with each other, raise valid questions regarding candidates or issues, offer your opinions on the same – we want to hear all of your comments. And they’ll get published. But leave the ugly language out.
This site has a lot of features, some of which may be apparent and some of which may not be quite so apparent. Like Twitter. We’re tweeting all the time and following us on Twitter is a great way to keep up when we post new items. And our ‘tag cloud” on every page shows which topics we’re posting the most stories about. Or the ‘most commented’ list shows what people are talking about. Or click on any of the links to our various blogs for easy access to the latest posts by our political bloggers.
