EUREKA, Calif. —From water-siphoning to pesticide-spraying to just plain littering, a flowering of pot farms driven by the rise of medical marijuana is battering Northern California’s wilderness areas, natural resources and endangered species.

The Los Angeles Times reports Sunday that in one remote, 37-square mile forest patch, scientists found 567 outdoor farms and greenhouses.

Most used water – totaling about 18 million gallons per year – diverted from an Eel River tributary, spawning ground for the endangered coho salmon.

Despite the state push toward decriminalizing marijuana, growers remain rogue and free from oversight.

They have graded mountaintops for greenhouses, illegally cut down trees and in one case poisoned dozens of a rare forest carnivore near Yosemite called a fisher. Scientists determined most had ingested rodenticide used by growers on pot plants.

Just a thought. If marijuana has no medicinal uses as the Federal Government has classified it, why is there a prescription drug called Marinol dispensed for severe nausea and sometimes to relieve the anxiety caused by pain? Even to pregnant women.

No logic here. Either it is or it isn’t a valid medication. I know a number of people who couldn’t have made it through chemo and radiation therapy without smoking marijuana. Smoking works better than the pill. Helped them eat and kept they from losing weight.

State after state are creating laws to legalize Marijuana. It’s way past time.

Nobody really cares about the “law” anymore because the government idiots are dreaming up new “laws” and creating new “crimes” so fast that even the government can’t understand what they have done.

Look at the idiots in the IRS. Everyone knows that a tax code means a dozen different things to a dozen different people. But its the “law.” LOL
