Well, in case you were wondering, the city censors those little ‘community’ newsletters. Yep, you toe the line or you get the boot.

Not only does the city try to develop neighborhood associations itself and work with outside groups (like the Leadership Institute of Ecology and Economy) to craft ‘consensus’ by installing neighborhood ‘leaders,’ but they also restrict what gets said.

Wake up, Santa Rosa. If you leave a vacuum you’ll get sucked up by someone.

Totally agree with the previous responders.

Why is the West End Neighborhood News funded by the city in the first place? How does the city justify spending taxpayer money to fund activities of what is obviously a political action group?

Then add the fact that the city is now using that funding to control what is published. Seems like a severe misuse of the city’s funds and power.

How much will it cost the city to defend the lawsuits resulting from this illegal use of their political and financial power? Probably way more than the cost of filling potholes or running some street lights!

The city would better support neighborhoods by spending the money on basic infrastructure maintenance, especially filling a few of SR’s many potholes.

Kind of surprised to hear we have the money to pay neighborhood groups to publish their newsletters. The next time I hear some advocate of a new tax say, “it’s only 30 cents a day,” I think I’ll remind him where that 30 cents is going.

In these tough economic times where hundreds of city employees have been laid off and furloughs being required, I find it strange that the city of Santa Rosa funds these so called Neighborhood Association newsletters.

From what I’ve seen, the author of this article is a political activist and uses her and her husband’s position to further their political agendas.

This is just not right
