  1. Dave says:

    Between 2000 and 2008 (AFTER the telecom bubble burst), a huge amount of commercial/office type buildings were built in Petaluma. Most of these buildings have never been occupied. Approximately 40% of all such buildings in Petaluma are currently vacant.

    My question for the candidates is “Do you think any such developments that are purely speculative and without demand were warranted back then and would be prudent in this day and age?”

  2. Paul Smith says:

    Michael, do your fellow progressive comrades know you’re a fan of the Glenn Beck “I’m just asking questions” approach? Political hackery works both ways.

    @Michael Aparicio,

    Your blanket characterization of two newspapers, large organizations and some candidates as using misinformation entirely lacks substance. I didn’t see any evidence of your claims in your reference. The progressive majority of Petaluma’s city council approved the shopping center and voted for a large payout to a citizen group that was suing to block the project.

    You seem to be siding with those who approved the project you think is bad. So why is it the fault of the others? I think that settlement agreement stinks and I wouldn’t vote for anyone who voted for it. Vote out the incumbants.

  4. I remain troubled by the PD and Argus’s misinformation about the Petaluma’s proposed East Washington Place shopping center. Why? In part, because their misinformation makes it easier for a candidate to run a deceptive campaign. When I recently watched Jeff Mayne’s youtube video campaign, I sat shaking my head as I thought about the ways he’s relying on previous misinformation. I’m hoping my latest blog can function as counter-point to at least some of this misinformation. Let’s help inform each other: http://michaelaparicio.wordpress.com/2010/09/08/who-is-jeff-mayne/
