One Response to “Meet the Candidates: Cotati City Council”

  1. Edwin Patterson says:

George Barich is the only Cotati candidate currently being investigated by the state FPPC for alleged illegal campaign contributions and money laundering – his own supporters made these allegations. http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20091112/ARTICLES/911129859 He’s also the only candidate to be arrested on felony drug and weapons charges. Records at the Hall of Justice show that he reached “no contest” plea bargains both times.

George Barich is the only city council member in Sonoma County to ever be recalled- by a whopping 65% of votes cast. A virtual tsunami of dissatisfaction. Over half the number of people who voted him into office failed to support keeping him there after less than one year. http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20091117/ARTICLES/911179905

He is the only candidate to deprive the electorate of a vote on the financial future of our city. He reneged on his specific campaign promise to take no salary. Instead, he took every dime and benefit available; costing Cotati more than any other current candidate. He is also the only candidate to abuse the City’s official website- using it to link to a blackface photo of himself overlapping the city’s official logo in a juvenile display of poor judgment.

Barich has no record of accomplishment to run on, so for years he has relied on vicious rumor mongering to personally attack private citizens who disagree with him. That kind of playground bully behavior is not how a “proven leader” acts.

I could go on as there is so much more, but I won’t except to say that: George Barich is the only candidate I don’t want to represent me. Not now, not ever.
