Got a take on one of the big issues facing our country? Your congressman wants to hear from you.
Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, is inviting constituents of his North Coast district to call in during a town hall-style teleconference on Wednesday evening.
Thompson said he wants residents of the 1st Congressional District to ask him questions about the issues that are important to them.
“Our country is facing many challenges right now and I want to make sure that people from across our district can discuss what’s on their mind,” Thompson said in a statement.
“It’s extremely important to me to hear from constituents, and this telephone town hall will be a great chance to talk about the challenges facing our country. Please take this opportunity to call in and make your voice heard,” he said.
The hour-long teleconference begins at 7:10 p.m.
To participate, dial 877-229-8493 and enter the passcode 13293.

Dear Mike-
I’m one of the many folks (I think) who is somewhat naive to all the work you’re doing… but for what it is worth, I understand many people think you’re doing great, considering your district comprises both the conservative Travis AFB area, and as far North as the most liberal green gardens.
I have one observation here, and that is:
A teleconference? You want us to participate in a teleconference?
Surely you have the resources to put together a simple web conference, where we can see you, ask moderated questions, and actually participate in a more open manner!
Barring that, why not get out into our neighborhoods and have small meetings? Perhaps you are, and I’m just another schlep that hasn’t gotten wind yet…
Regardless, I think that you should understand that from my perspective, there are a lot of people who would like to be more involved in our governance, but are repeatedly disenchanted with the avenues made available to us.
With all the options at your disposal, a teleconference doesn’t really cut it.
Best wishes,
