Allen claims victory in Assembly primary

Former state legislative aide Santa Rosa planning commissioner Michael Allen is declaring victory in the 7th Assembly District Democratic primary race, saying opponent Michael Wilson has conceded the election.

“He called to congratulate me and offered to work with me,” Allen said Monday of Wilson, a Vallejo councilman.

Wilson couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

Allen held a 520-vote lead over Wilson on election night, June 8.

When Solano County last week certified its results, Allen’s lead was cut to 270 votes. But it expanded again to 1,166 votes with the final returns from Napa County.

Sonoma County election officials are expected soon to certify their returns, the last outstanding votes in the assembly district.

“I’m thrilled,” Allen said of the election outcome.

He said he now intends to prepare for the November general election for the Assembly seat vacated by Noreen Evans, D-Santa Rosa, who was termed out of office.

Allen said he wants to meet soon with Wilson and also with another candidate in the race, former Santa Rosa councilman Lee Pierce.

“They put a huge amount of time and effort into this process,” Allen said. He said he would talk about the campaign issues that matter to the two men.

What a loser Michael Allen is. When Rosa Koire reported him to the FPPC she was attacked here, but obviously she was right. The FPPC fined him for his conflict of interest violations. Expect more smears when Michael Allen packs his carpetbag and moves around trying to find some place where they don’t know him well enough to run him out of town on a rail. He’s a loser who won’t pull off getting into office again, I hope. His union connections hopefully won’t give him enough money to buy the votes he’ll need. He’s a disgrace to the unions.

The ethically challenged person here is Rose Koire who is universally disliked and distrusted in Santa Rosa for her negative carping against any one who disagrees with her. The real story about her fake “organization” (which basically consists of her and her girlfriend Kay Tokelrud) is here

They hate Michael Allen becuase he is a firm believer in low income housing and smarth growth, which gets in the way of their career as real estate speculators.
Luckily voters are not fooled by someone who is in it for their own self interest like Rosa. Especially when they are attacking someone who has a long history of helping others and giving to his community like Michael Allen.

  4. Rosa Koire says:

Michael Allen will be fined by the FPPC for his unethical behavior. Those who cast this as a partisan issue are grasping at anything to turn the attention away from the truth.

Michael Allen, while serving on the Planning Commission, took money from the County Water Agency to lobby Santa Rosa on a property they owned. Michael Allen voted the way they wanted him to vote on that issue. A serious ethics violation.

While he was on the Planning Commission he was also the chair of the Accountable Development Coalition and was lobbied by HIS OWN GROUP to vote down the Lowe’s project. He did just that while saying he was impartial.

The Grand Jury has said that his and Caston’s ethics need some serious review and that the Planning Commission must adopt ethics standards.

Proof of Michael Allen’s conflict of interest including the contracts, invoices and analysis are on our website. Click on my name above.

Congratulations, Michael. Your deep commitment to improving the lives of working people through advocacy for living wages, affordable housing, environmental sustainability, and intelligent land-use will be a benefit to the citizens of the 7th AD.

Now if we can pass the majority rule referendum, then the right-wing Republican Grover Norquist chokehold on the budget will be broken, and we can raise the revenues needed to have a decent state. No one will be talking about a do-nothing legislature then!

Finally, Mike Allen will be out of local government and headed to the do-nothing time-suck that is the state legislature. In six years, with Noreen Evans still firmly in control of the local state senate seat, he’ll have nowhere to go and will be out of the way of real economic progress for good.

  10. Michael Allen is one of the best active listeners and kind hearted people I’ve ever met. He’s a thinker who does his homework, and reaches out to all sides.

I’m proud to have worked along side him on many issues facing Sonoma County, and look forward to helping him through this upcoming election and into policy matters in Sacramento.

Even through the garbage press this past election cycle, Michael held his head high and took it in stride. We need that caliber of person in Sacramento, to deal with the big money interests in a transparent and citizen serving way.

Congratulations to Micael Allen for a hard fought race during which he weathered a lot of smears and mudslinging by people who hate it that he supports working families, low income housing and responsible and smart land use policies. Thank God the voters saw through the cheap and sordid Republican smear campaign that would make Karl Rove proud. It’s a victory for Progressives and people who care about Sonoma county and District 7! Great Job Michael!

It is unfortunate that Democrats continually put up people who cannot be trusted to put the people ahead of themselves.

Allen leaves a bad impression and is surely not someone I believe has the morality necessary for govt or anything else<
