Our government has shown that they can not manage money. They spend, spend, spend and then when they are out of money it is cut, cut, cut and raise taxes or fees.

Didn’t we as a state a few years back vote on a proposition to fund our public schools? Were we (the State) created a bond that we will pay back with interest for the next 20 years or so? So where did the money go? and why now are we cutting 22,000 teachers.

Didn’t we here in the North Bay approve a 1/4 percent tax increase for a rail system? Where is it? How many years is it behind schedule? And how much more is the project cost now than when it was originally proposed.

Our government has no idea how to manage a budget. They have no idea how to save – and when you propose savings, it goes to committees upon committees (at what cost).

If Government was a private business they would be Bankrupt, they provide little to no service any longer, and the service they provide terrible. People only deal with Government because they have too, not because they want to!

I will vote no on any increase in any tax or fees – simply because Government has shown no responsibility managing my money!

Adding a penny or two to the gas tax would be fairer. The more one uses the roads, the more one pays. But proposing that would require political leadership and maybe is beyond what’s politically possible these days.

So, bring on the $10 “fee.”

Of course, that assumes a substantial portion of the money will be used for road repairs. If it turns out that most will be spent on “transit” (just what does that mean), bike lanes and whatnot, then forget it.
