Rohnert Park on Tuesday appointed its city engineer and development services director as the city’s acting city manager.
Darrin Jenkins will take the place of interim city manager Dan Schwarz, who leaves April 30 to take the city manager’s position in Larkspur.
Jenkins will become the city’s fourth top administrator in five years and his tenure is expected to be brief, he said.
Another interim city manager will be named shortly, Jenkins said, and will hold that position until a permanent city manager is hired.
The City Council is currently recruiting a new city manager, a process it started before Schwarz, who originally applied for the job but then withdrew his application, said he would leave.
Schwarz, who had been assistant city manger since 2006, was named interim city manager in October 2008. He stepped into the shoes of Steve Donley, who left for active duty with the Coast Guard.
Mayor Pam Stafford said she hopes the council will name a permanent replacement by the time the next fiscal year starts in July.
