Candidates for local, state and congressional offices will be appearing in a number of debates, fund-raisers and other public events leading up to the June 5, 2012 election. Campaign finance disclosure statements are due for the period ending Dec. 31, 2011
March 9
Deadline for candidates to enter races with an incumbent seeking re-election
March 14
Deadline for candidates to enter races with no incumbent
March 15
Random alphabet drawing to determine order candidates will appear on the ballot
March 22
Campaign finance disclosure statements are due for the period Jan. 1 through March 17
April 26
Sample ballots mailed
May 7
Voting by mail begins for the June 5 primary election
May 21
Deadline to register to vote in the 2012 primary election
May 24
Campaign finance disclosure statements are due for the period March 18 through May 19
May 29
Deadline to request a ballot by mail
June 5
Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
July 31
Campaign finance disclosure statements are due for the period May 20 through June 30
